Clayton Collins Testimony

My name is Clayton Collins, I’m from a small town in Eastern Ky, called Isom. I’m 21 years old and a recovering methamphetamine addict.

Growing up I probably couldn’t of had a better childhood. There was drinking around me growing up and so forth, but that’s something I never struggled with. At the age of 16, I started smoking marijuana. That progressed to nerve pills and pretty much anything I could get my hands on. But I can’t say I was truly addicted at that time, cause I could do without it.

Then at 18, I discovered methamphetamine. The first few times I done it, I didn’t think it would be what it was. I couldn’t stop, but then I didn’t really see the problem. My addiction progressed over 2 years, and it just took more and more to get where I wanted to be. My mom threatened me with Casey’s Law, but that still wasn’t enough to get me to go to treatment. It took some jail time and legal trouble for me to come to Isaiah House.

After being at the Isaiah House for 11 months, I couldn’t be more pleased with where I am at today. I am clear headed and holding down a full time job. Something I never have done before. I definitely have gained some brothers. I met some of the realest people I know while I’ve been here. I came to a place where I knew no one and I am leaving knowing almost everyone. Plus there’s nothing better than regaining the trust back from your family and friends.

While here I knew the only way to overcome what I was going through was to surrender to God and let Him take control of the situation. And that’s what’s got me where I am today. I’m going to be forever grateful to the Isaiah House for giving me back my life. Cause without them, I probably would have done been back on the streets doing the same thing.

*Clayton is graduating from our long-term program on 7/27/19. He received treatment through an Operation UNITE voucher.
