Why Donate to Isaiah House?

Walking in the door of a treatment center for the first time is one of the greatest accomplishments in the life of someone struggling with addiction. Unfortunately, most only take that step after reaching a bottom spiritually, physically, and financially.

More than half of our clients arrive homeless either living in a shelter, on the street, or sleeping on someone’s couch. Every day, we accept clients with few clothes, sometimes without even shoes. They often have physical needs such as eyeglasses and dentures that are vital to pursuing a productive, sober life. Many need to develop job skills and further their education so they can support themselves and their families.

By making a one-time or monthly donation, you are directly impacting families and communities across Kentucky!

We invite you to provide direct support for our clients who are working hard to become the parents, sons, daughters, and friends they are meant to be.

How Your Donation Supports Someone in Recovery

Long-term Residential Treatment Expense

Medicaid and other insurance providers rarely pay for more than a few days or weeks of residential treatment. Yet, those who continue treatment over the long term more than double their chances for maintaining sobriety. You can sponsor a client in treatment!

Basic Needs for indigent clients

More than 50% of Isaiah House clients are homeless when they come to us for help and healing. Many lack adequate clothing, shoes, hygiene products and other essential personal items.

Dentures and eyeglasses

A beautiful smile and good vision build confidence and impact people in recovery as they pursue education and find good jobs.

Educational programming

Isaiah House partners with adult education providers, colleges, and career centers to assist clients with building a meaningful, productive life. Clients are supported with testing/college fees, technology access, classroom supplies, tutoring, and other tools for learning.

Spiritual guidance, worship opportunities, and discipleship

Celebrate Recovery, full-time chaplains, Bibles, Christian literature, and community service opportunities are paid for by generous giving

Recovery Housing

The opportunity to continue healing in a sober living environment is critical as people in recovery build the skills needed to return to their communities and families. Donations help pay for the first few weeks of rent, food, and household supplies until clients secure a job. Many could not continue in their recovery journey without community support.

Transportation

The loss of a driver’s license and the inability to afford a vehicle is often one of the consequences of addictive behavior. We provide free rides to treatment and transportation to jobs, college classes, doctor’s appointments, and other community-based services. Drivers, vehicles, and gas are not covered by insurance.

Isaiah House is honored to accept gifts in honor or memory of a loved one, special friend, or colleague.

Bequests create a legacy and have lasting impact on people in recovery. You can include gifts of cash, securities, personal property, a percentage of the value of the estate, or the residue of your estate (property remaining after all other bequests have been fulfilled). To make a bequest, you need to leave instructions, typically in a will. You can detail different types of bequests in your will and update it throughout your life as your family, priorities, and wishes evolve.

Stock or mutual funds are a popular option because it allows you to help Isaiah House clients and receive a charitable income tax deduction.

With Isaiah House as your retirement plan asset recipient, your heirs will receive income and estate tax savings, and Isaiah House will receive the full value of the plan.

Savings bonds may have stopped growing. A tax-wise use for appreciated savings bonds is to support Isaiah House.

You may give a residence, land, or other real property. The value of the donation is determined by an appraisal of the fair market value at the time of the transfer of ownership. Donations of personal property such as equipment, furniture, appliances, and vehicles can also be contributed.

A donation of your closely held stock can be a great way to make a sizable charitable contribution while realizing valuable tax benefits. An income tax deduction will be realized by the donor for the charitable gift, and a tax advantage will be realized by avoidance of capital gains taxes on the stocks appreciated value. The donor retains a controlled interest in the company.

Your contributions through this method ensure asset distribution to specific charities, current and/or deferred tax advantages, and flexibility.

The gift of life insurance provides you with a charitable contribution for the present cash surrender value. Also, future premium payments made following the transfer of ownership and beneficiary status of the policy are tax-deductible.
